ACTING COMMANDER RBN RECEIVES COURTESY CALL FROM DEFENCE ATTACHÉ OF JAPAN

MUARA NAVAL BASE, Tuesday, 07 February 2023 – Captain Haji Mohamad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, Acting Commander Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) received a courtesy call from Commander Ishikawa Kiyoshi, Defence Attaché of Japan to Malaysia Accredited to Brunei Darussalam. Also in attendance were Lieutenant Wada Toshifumi, the Second Secretary of the Japanese Embassy for Defence Cooperation to Brunei Darussalam, and the Chief of Staff, RBN.

During the call, Acting Commander expressed his gratitude for the continued cooperation and reaffirms the friendly bilateral relations between RBN and the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) which has flourished from various avenues including port calls, passage exercises, and mutual attendance at multilateral events. Both sides also recounted to hosting of the 18th Western Pacific Naval Sysmposium by JMSDF and RBN's inaugural deployment to Japan to participate in the International Fleet Review. The call proceeded with discussions for future cooperation between RBN and JMSDF with an eye towards more avenues of friendship and cooperation in the years ahead.
